SUMMARY

Some people are destined for fame and Ruby Crane would be one of those people.  When Ruby writes a novel, “The Heart Stealer,” at the age of 15, everything falls into place.  She is the “it” girl at her high school and everyone knows her name.  But nothing lasts forever, as Ruby learns.

News reporter, Samantha Golding, does a little detective work and finds a goldmine.  Ruby has plagiarized another author’s work and Samantha tells the world!

Ruby flies under the radar and disappears.  She moves to the small town of Whispering Oaks, where her Aunt Finn lives and takes on a new name, Georgie O’Dead.  Life is good in Whispering Oaks and no one knows Ruby’s secret.  She finds a boyfriend and a best girlfriend too.

REVIEW

I chose this book because of The Story Siren’s recent post about plagiarism.  I really wanted to learn more about plagiarism and how it hurts others.  This was the perfect opportunity.  I saw that plagiarism is wrong and no one trusts someone who pretends that someone else’s work is their own.

This book was a different read, in a good way.  It wasn’t the usual high-school story, but it did bring out the emotions of high-school girls.  I liked that it was a book about books too!!!
