MY LIFE IN PINK AND GREEN
By: Lisa Greenwald
SUMMARY
Lucy Desberg is a problem-solving twelve-year-old girl. Her family owns the Old Mills Pharmacy, but it is about to go out of business. It seems that many of the Old Mills customers are flocking to the big pharmacy in town.
Since Lucy loves makeup, it is no surprise when homecoming queen, Courtney, comes into Old Mills with a fashion disaster. Lucy comes to the rescue. Even though more girls come in for makeovers, the pharmacy is still struggling.
Lucy joins the Earth Club, an environmental club, at school. Through the club, Lucy learns about a grant available for eco-friendly businesses. Lucy applies for the grant to open an Eco-Spa, and she is chosen, but not without a struggle.
Lucy and her family open the Eco-Spa as part of the Old Mills Pharmacy. More good news! Lucy wins the boy too!
REVIEW
The cover of this book caught my eye and it goes perfectly with this unique story. The title is perfect too! Pink for all things girlie and green for the environment.
Lucy faces normal teen issues along with issues only adults should have to deal with. This book covered teen issues like BOYS, but also covered foreclosure and the environment. That’s quite a mix!
Throughout the story, Lucy is a problem-solving and very grown up girl. She stays true to her vision for the pharmacy and to herself.
I wish the book would have included the actual opening of the spa, because the spa was such a big part of the story. I would have enjoyed reading about that. Maybe there will be a sequel?
