Linger

LINGER

By:  Maggie Stiefvater

FIRST SENTENCE

“Mercy Falls, Minnesota, looked different when you knew you’d be human for the rest of your life.”

SUMMARY
from goodreads

In Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other.  Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together.  For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being.  For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past … and figuring out a way to survive into the future.  Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack.  And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves … and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.

At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love – the light and the dark, the warm and the cold – in a way you will never forget.

REVIEW

Remember this?  It happened again.  “Melina, since you read Shiver, you REALLY need to read Linger.”  Linger is just as great as Shiver.”  “Why haven’t you read Linger yet?”  And, just like the first time, my book blog friends were right.  Linger is all kinds of sweetness!

Linger is a love story.  Yes, a love story.  Instead of the overused werewolves vs vampires or werewolves attacking humans, Linger focuses on love.  Make that love, loyalty, trust, family (or, in this case, the pack), and devotion.  All those warm, squishy emotions that come with love.

Sam and Grace are joined by Cole and Isabel in Linger.  Sam and Grace were the same awesome couple that I met before.  Cole was the troubled wolf with the mysterious past.  Isabel was spunky and she bickered with Cole as if he were her brother.  Since each character gets their own chapters, we get to take a peek into all of their minds.

My book blog friends won’t have to tell me to read the sequel, Forever.  It’s already on my wish list.
