Goodreads Summary
Corrinne Corcoran’s upscale Manhattan life is perfectly on track—until her father announces he’s been laid off and she’s shipped off to Broken Spoke, Texas, to live with her grandparents. All alone in a big public school and forced to take a job shoveling manure, Corrinne is determined to get back to the glamorous life she’s supposed to be living. But as she grudgingly adjusts—making new friends and finding romance along the way—this city girl begins to realize that life without credit cards and shopping sprees may not be as bad as it seems....
In this sparkling debut that flawlessly balances romance and humor, readers will grow to love sharp and sassy Corrinne as she goes on her totally reluctant but completely irresistible journey of self-discovery.
Review
There are main characters who transform from being mean to nice, from snobby to friendly, from sad to happy … and then there’s Corrinne. She is the typical big city girl who goes to a private school, lives to shop, and thinks life is all about glitter and glam. That is, until she lands in Broken Spoke, Texas. Corrinne transforms into a small town girl who goes to a public school, lives for the rodeo, and thinks life is all about football games and true friends.
This native Texan loved EVERYTHING about Where I Belong.
Although I live in a suburb, I know all about small town Texas. Gwendolyn Heasley’s descriptions capture the essence of life in cowboy country. There’s the famous Texas heat, the football worshipping, the accents, and the cowboy fashion (boots and hats y’all). That’s Texas for ya’.
Corrinne’s transformation was complete. She became a new person, and I would have to say a better person, in the process. I liked that she went from someone who had no money sense to a self-proclaimed “Recessionista.”
Where I Belong has a romantic element as well. What made it different was that Corrinne only had eyes for Rider while Buddy was so obviously wanting her attention. Oh that Rider could be a bad boy! The kind of character you love to hate. Buddy was just a sweet cowboy with a kind heart. All together now – awwwww.
Now, go grab your boots and take a trip to Broken Spoke, Texas.

Cover Comments
This cover oozes Southern charm like sweet tea. Corrinne’s bright yellow dress makes me think of the hot Texas sun. Her high heels and purse scream of the big city that she left behind. Oh, and the cowboy, he completes this cute scene perfectly.
