GOODREADS SUMMARY
Her star power in demand on a hit Broadway play, Hollywood teen starlet Kaitlin Burke packs up her entourage (ok, her showbiz family, friends, assistant, and publicist, but not the dreamy boyfriend) and moves to the Big Apple for the summer. Kaitlin is the toast of the town and she hits the most exclusive New York nightspots, enjoys the best food (Hello, Magnolia Bakery), and even guests as a celebrity host on Saturday Night Live! But New York isn't all cupcakes and virgin daiquiris. Long distance and a handsome new costar put a huge strain on her relationship with Austin, and it turns out Broadway divas are a whole different breed of neuroses and competition from Hollywood starlets.
REVIEW
Kaitlin goes Broadway! This series is so fun to read, and Broadway Lights is no exception. With a brand new location in New York, a Broadway play, and drama galore, this book is jam-packed with excitement.
New York is not Hollywood. Jen Calonita does a great job of setting the scene – taxis, the subway, walking the streets, plays, and even cupcake shops. The change of scenery really added a new feel to the series and I liked it.
One of my favorite things about this series is that the books have little extras in them. For instance, magazine articles, blog posts, or Kaitlin’s schedule may pop up from time-to-time. In this book, there are lines from the Broadway play’s script that add to the whole Broadway experience.
Here’s the low-down on the drama. Kaitlin’s new female co-star, Riley, is a jealous diva who freaks out when Kaitlin invades her turf. Distance does not make the heart grow fonder for Kaitlin and her steady boyfriend Austin. With Kaitlin in New York and Austin in Texas, these two have a communication breakdown. There’s a new boy named Daniel on the stage with Kaitlin too. He adds even more drama to
Kaitlin’s strained relationship with Austin.
I am having a great time reading the books in this series. Kaitlin finds herself in all sorts of usual situations and some of the entertainment people she works with are pretty crazy. After she went all paparazzi in the last book, I was so happy to see that Kaitlin got back to her old self in Broadway Lights. I can’t wait to read the next book, There’s No Place Like Home, which releases on March 1, 2011.

COVER COMMENTS
This deep purple looks like leather. The metal clasp and rivets are a nice touch too. And that orange font really does look like a Broadway sign. Love!
