GOODREADS SUMMARY
He didn't ask for the job, but now all that stands between us and chaos... is Colt
Colt McAlister was having the summer of his life. He spent his days surfing and his nights playing guitar on the beach with friends. He even met a girl and got his first car. But everything changes when his parents are killed in a freak accident.
He's forced to leave his old life behind and move to Arizona with his grandfather. The only person he knows at the new high school is a childhood friend named Dani. And Oz, a guy he's sure he's never met but who is strangely familiar.
But what if his parents' death wasn't an accident? His mother, an investigative reporter, was going to expose a secret mind-control program run by one of the world's largest companies. Before she could release the story, what if agents from Trident Biotech made sure she couldn't go public?
Vowing to uncover the truth, Colt gets drawn into a secret world of aliens, shapeshifters, flying motorcycles, and invisible gateways.
The Invasion has begun.
REVIEW
Invasion spins sci-fi into a fantastic world of futuristic adventure. When a trio of teens get caught up in this out-of-this-world experience they must pull out all the stops to foil a sinister plot.
Surfer boy Colt, is out to avenge the deaths of his parents. As the leader of this trio, he is extremely intelligent, a fighter, and charming too. Dani, a sweet girl who has been Colt’s friend since they were toddlers, is also an expert hacker. Then there’s Oz. He’s flirty, sarcastic, and an amazing fighter – oh and his father is the director of C.H.A.O.S. (Central Headquarters Against the Occult and Supernatural – a government agency).
What I liked most about these characters was that once all the sci-fi stuff is stripped away, they are just typical teens. They were easy friends, they joked, they argued, and they were vulnerable.
J.S. Lewis has such a vivid imagination. His aliens include shapeshifters, a Big Foot like creature with two heads (seriously), under water beings, and more. The technology is super advanced too. There are jet packs, mind control programs, and even flying motorcycles. I loved his descriptions.
The plot itself has lots of surprises – there is even a twist that involves comic books. Once I started reading, I had a hard time stopping because there really is a lot of action. Some of it is on the violent side and some is more emotional. It’s a nice mix.
Even if you don’t normally read sci-fi (I don’t), you should give Invasion a try (I’m glad I did).

COVER COMMENTS
It looks like the end of the world and these three characters are going to save it. I love the smoky feel and the beautiful turquoise light.
