Today, a series of photos of the bay of Salvador - the Baía de Todos os Santos (in English, the All Saint's Bay). The first photo, taken from above, shows all the surrounding area. This beautiful view is easily accessible using the scenic elevator near the harbor (in the photo to the left).
This bay is the second largest in the world and it was the first place where the Portuguese arrived in Brazil. There they founded the city of Salvador and, to defended it from the pirates, they build several forts in order to make crossfire between them.
In the photo above, along with one of this forts is a replica of an old Portuguese ship, a Caravel (in Portuguese, uma Caravela).
Finally, a photo of some of the old ferries that still nowadays make the connection with the islands on the bay (fantastic how they help to keep the fabulous atmosphere of the place).
