SUMMARY
from goodreads
What do Katie-Rose, Yasaman, Milla, and Violet all have in common? Other than being named after flowers, practically nothing. Katie-Rose is a film director in training. Yasaman is a computer whiz. Milla is third in command of the A list. And Violet is the new girl in school. They’re fab girls, all of them, but they sure aren’t friends. And if evil queen bee Medusa- ‘scuse me Modessa- has it her way, they never will be. But this is the beginning of a new school year, when anything can happen and social worlds can collide…
REVIEW
Luv Ya Bunches is pure fifth grade drama. Hey, I should know since I just finished fifth grade. This book does an awesome job of capturing real-life scenarios as told by typical fifth grade girls.
What is extra special about this book though is the way it is set up. Each chapter is told from the perspective of one of the four main characters. As well, some chapters include sections of text messages that are sent by the girls. There are even sections that are written in the style of a movie script including stage directions. How cool is that?
I like that all four of the main characters are nice. I felt bad that they struggled with some self-esteem issues at times, but they were able to overcome these in the end.
I would recommend this book to girls who are going into fifth grade and to anyone who wants to relive that time of their life.
