Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she’s struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps, and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.
Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town’s oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.
REVIEW
WoW! Beautiful Creatures is amazing! I was completely drawn into the story and I loved every single page. No…make that every single word.
I absolutely adored the way that Garcia and Stohl described Gatlin. They included references to the Civil War and their imagery was wonderful. The setting was so important and they got it right!
The story was extra special because it was told from Ethan’s point-of-view. This added a unique spin because most YA books seem to be told from the girls’ point-of-view. I enjoyed feeling the scenes as if I were Ethan.
The relationship between Lena and Ethan was sweet and magical. They seemed to have such a strong force pulling them together and they each had a good heart.
The ending took me off guard and it was the perfect jump start for the next book in the series. Beautiful Creatures = Beautiful Book It would be safe to say that I fell in LOVE with this series and I bet you will too. Thank you to Little, Brown, and Company for sending this book for me to review.
