REVIEW
This series introduced me to the world of ghost hunting. Gibson clearly did a great deal of research for these books because she includes descriptions of ghost hunting tools and techniques. I actually wish there had been a bit more explanation because some of the tools were a little confusing to me.
I liked Kendall as a main character. Aside from her psychic abilities, she seems like a rather average teen. The story is told by Kendall in her teen speak. This did not bother me, but I can see why it might bother an older reader. My mother would probably find the dialogue annoying.
In the first book, Kendall is just becoming aware of her psychic abilities. By the second book, she is using her powers to help spirits move on. Tensions heat up between Kendall and popular Courtney in The Guidance. The rivalry between them added some spice to the story.
The story takes place in an old Civil War town with lots of history. Again, Gibson’s research shows as she includes details about the “march to the sea.” I am a history buff, so this caught my eye.
Book 3 – The Reason is already on bookshelves, and Book 4 – The Counseling comes out in September, 2010.
