Unexpected Treasure - BBAW - Jack Blank and the Imagine Nation

JACK BLANK
AND THE IMAGINE NATION
By:  Matt Myklusch
FIRST SENTENCE
“Jack Blank, I know you’re in there!”
SUMMARY
from book flap
Jack Blank doesn’t know who he is or where he comes from.  He doesn’t even know his real last name.  All Jack knows is his bleak, dreary life at St. Barnaby’s Home for the Hopeless, Abandoned, Forgotten, and Lost.  Everything changes one morning when Jack receives two visitors.  The first is a deadly robot, straight out of one of Jack’s favorite comic books, that tries its best to blow him up.  The second is an emissary from a secret country called the Imagine Nation, where all the fantastic and unbelievable things in our world originate – including Jack.  Jack soon discovers that he has an amazing ability – one that could make him the savior of the Imagine Nation and the world beyond, or the biggest threat they’ve ever faced.
REVIEW
Jack Blank is an out-of-this-world story!  With vivid descriptions and a wild plot, this book had me turning pages like crazy.  Lots of surprises kept my attention right to the last page.  Myklusch’s ideas are fascinating!
I don’t read so many books with boys as the main character, but I’m glad I decided to give Jack a chance.  He was very imaginative himself and he was strong against the Rustov.  After such a sad childhood, I am glad that he made some friends.
If you are looking for adventure, then Jack Blank will not let you down.  I can see this book appealing to both middle grade and young adult readers – boys and girls alike.  And I hear there is a sequel in the works.  Sweet!
