City of Glass

CITY OF GLASS

THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS 3

By:  Cassandra Clare

FIRST SENTENCE

"The cold snap of the previous week was over; the sun was shining brightly as Clary hurried across Luke’s dusty front yard, the hood of her jacket up to keep her hair from blowing across her face.”

SUMMARY
from goodreads

To save her mother’s life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters – never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death.  To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

As Clary uncovers more about her family’s past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian.  With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies.  But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together?  While Jace realizes exactly how much he’s willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her new found powers to help save the Glass City – whatever the cost?

REVIEW

I loved every single thing about City of Glass.  Now I shall begin gushing about its awesomeness.

The plot was a nice mix of foreshadowed events and unexpected surprises.  What was great was that even those surprises made sense.  Clare did not throw in crazy scenes just for the shock factor.  Every bit of the plot was there for a reason.

Ah, the amazing characters that I had grown so emotionally attached to.  The characters were written so that they were believable. Clary is now near the top of my all-time favorite female heroines.

Clare has such a great imagination.  She has created a magical fantasy world that truly FEELS real.  To say this book was attention grabbing would be an understatement.  My attention was grabbed from the first page right down to the last page.

City of Fallen Angels hits bookshelves April 5, 2011.  Does anyone know how we can move that date up a bit?  Anyone?
