GOODREADS SUMMARY

Pip, whose real name is Phillip Isaac Penn, feels that the world is against him as he struggles to deal with angry parents, a bossy older sister, a frazzled teacher, and memorable characters such as Bully Bart, Cheater Chaz, Know-It-All Nell, Liar Lizzy, Stealer Steffan, Conman Cody, and Tattle-Tale Tess. Every day of the week brings another challenge that Pip handles in his own endearing way. Yet, no matter how hard he tries, he realizes that it’s just not easy being a kid.

REVIEW

Phillip Isaac Penn (aka PIP) has a saying “It’s not easy being a kid.” PIP should know, because he’s a kid and it seems that nothing comes easily for him.  Even when he thinks he's following the rules, something always messes things up.  Poor PIP.

The Mis-Adventures of Phillip Isaac Penn is set up with each chapter being a day in a typical week for PIP. Let me just say that PIP’s typical week is anything but boring. Every single day finds PIP involved in a hilarious incident with a bumbling character.

Little touches make this book especially fun and entertaining. There are cute drawings throughout and characters with silly names like Cheater Chaz. The light-hearted story is a sure hit with younger readers looking for a laugh and a lesson or two in dealing with others.

COVER COMMENTS

Middle grade to a T. I love the days of the week and PIP’s little devilish grin.
