GOODREADS SUMMARY
Huber Hill wishes he could exchange lives with somebody - anybody! He endures each day of junior high, tormented by his long-time adversary, Scott McCormick. And at home, his parents bicker endlessly. His only escape from all the madness is Grandpa Nick.
But tragedy strikes when Grandpa Nick dies and Huber is left devastated... until he opens a mysterious box left behind just for him. An old gold coin and directions to a hidden Spanish treasure send him off on a mind-blowing adventure, but he's not the only one on the hunt. Filled with dangerous animals, cryptic puzzles, and long-dead Spanish corpses, this book will enthrall you to the last page.
REVIEW
Huber’s Grandpa Nick was a story teller. He would share stories of a lose gold mine that was said to be cursed. Grandpa Nick had a map and a prospecting journal to search for the mine. When his grandpa dies, it is up to Huber to fulfill his legacy and find the mine.
The journey to find the mine is very exciting. Huber and his friends solve puzzles, cross rivers, and hike for days on end. A wonderful kinship blossoms between the comrades as they share this amazing experience. It was fun to watch Huber, who was used to being teased, take the lead.
Huber must also contend with a Spanish murderer who sees the mine as his birthright. This guy was a little unbelievable to me because he was somehow able to survive even the deadliest of situations. He fell off a thirty foot cliff and then showed back up to cause more mischief. See what I mean?
Overall, I enjoyed solving the mystery right along with Huber and his friends.

COVER COMMENTS
Huber and his pals are front and center with a treasure chest. Do you see the spooky eyes in the background? This cover really fits the story nicely.
