Aldwyn, Skylar, and Gilbert are back together in Secrets of the Crown. Just when the familiars think their human loyals are safe, human magic fails. Once again, it is up this trio of animal familiars to save the day. Prepare to be familiarized!

There is only one way to restore the power of human magic and it involves finding the snow leopard’s crown. The familiars embark on a wild adventure in their search for the crown. They encounter many unusual people and animals during their quest. A trail of clues and hidden puzzles keeps Aldwyn and his friends on the right track.

I fell in love with the growing friendship between the familiars. Bonds that were formed earlier are growing stronger as the friends rely on each other. I adored that Aldwyn, who did not have a family of his own, found comfort and acceptance with the others. When Aldwyn learns about his past and his own special gift, I realized that I just may be a “cat person” after all.

The Familiars series offers an enchanting tale for kids from 9 to 99. Secrets of the Crown is a wonderful follow up that captures the magic of friendship and youth.

The bright red background adds a royal touch to the crown and its jewels. I like how Skylar, and Gilbert are looking to their leader, Aldwyn. Oh, and Aldwyn himself looks so sly with those green cat eyes. Meow!
