GOODREADS SUMMARY

When Claire Miller turned eighteen all she wanted to do was celebrate her birthday, but after a night on the town with her best friend she awakes to a visitor she never expected. The rulers of her region, a vampire royal family, have chosen her to be turned as their new heir and vampire princess. Claire quickly discovers the royal family is not what they seem and that she has secrets in her past, she never knew existed.

REVIEW

The vampires in Savor are different. They are so different, in fact, that they have convinced the humans in their region to donate blood to them and store it in blood banks. These vampires are the leaders of the government and they live side-by-side with the humans. It sounds crazy, but it works for them and I really loved how different their society was.

The story is told from Claire’s point of view. She is a human living among the vampires, when she learns the ruling royal family wants to turn her into a vampire. There is much freaking out, but Claire eventually comes around. Since these vampires are good, maybe it’s a good thing to be one of them. That’s different, huh?

There are a couple of guy vampires who get involved. First there’s Dmitry, who is a playful scientist. Yes, playful scientist. Then there’s Arrick, who is consuming and has an instant connection with Claire. I really liked that both guys are so different from each other, but neither is a jerk. I definitely like one more than the other for Claire, but I won’t say which.  Love triangles are starting to wear on me, but this time it's cool because the guys are at least nice.  There's no clear-cut bad choice here, so I can actually imagine that Claire did have to do some heavy thinking.

Family secrets play a big role in what leads up to an unexpected ending. Megan Duncan has a great way of throwing her readers off and then giving them little clues and throwing them off the trail again. And, oh, I was thrown off!

5 Loved
