GOODREADS SUMMARY

It was a beautiful, warm summer day, the day Danny died.
Suddenly Wren was alone and shattered. In a heartbroken fury, armed with dark incantations and a secret power, Wren decides that what she wants—what she must do—is to bring Danny back.
But the Danny who returns is just a shell of the boy Wren fell in love with. His touch is icy; his skin, smooth and stiff as marble; his chest, cruelly silent when Wren rests her head against it.

Wren must keep Danny a secret, hiding him away, visiting him at night, while her life slowly unravels around her. Then Gabriel DeMarnes transfers to her school, and Wren realizes that somehow, inexplicably, he can sense the powers that lie within her—and that he knows what she has done. And now Gabriel wants to help make things right.

But Wren alone has to undo what she has wrought—even if it means breaking her heart all over again.

REVIEW

Nothing about Cold Kiss was what I expected and that unexpectedness was exactly what I needed. On the outside, Cold Kiss seems to be a paranormal story with powers and a zombie. But, in fact, it is a love story. Awww!

Wren and Danny are in that beautiful stage of their love story where they are moving from being friends to being more. These two have one of those awesome relationships where their love has grown over time. They haven’t rushed into anything. It is the way a love story SHOULD play out.

But then Danny unexpectedly dies in an accident and Wren plunges into the black abyss of despair. Her sadness is raw and believable. In that desperate state, Wren does what she has the power to do. She brings Danny back to life. The problem is, Danny has changed. Zombie Danny has lost all of the beautiful emotions he once had, the emotions that Wren was falling in love with. It is like he is empty. Heartbroken Wren must now deal with the consequences of what she has done. And I can tell you that I was feeling heartbroken right along with her, but not in a depressing way, in a hopeful way.  HOW exactly can she move on? Will a life with the new boy in her life ever come close to what she had with Danny? In Wren's sadness, there is hope.

Cold Kiss is a love story that demands you have a tissue box ready for your inevitable tears. This story is less about the zombie in the attic and more about love, loss, and moving on. With the fabulous writing of Amy Garvey, who spills emotions with her words, Cold Kiss grabbed my heart and did not let go. If you crave a love story with some heart, Cold Kiss is the perfect choice for you.
