1. Songkran - A festival celebrating the official New Year of the country, Songkran takes place between the 13th and the 15th of April. 4. Ploughing Ceremony - This celebration happens in May every year to celebrate the rice-planting season. There are many rites and rituals associated with this grand festival, which takes place at the Sanam Luang grounds and is presided over by the King of Thailand.
5. Royal Barges Procession - This procession is normally in the month of November in Bangkok, and is accompanied by much pomp and ceremony. The event sees 52 Royal barges take to the Chao Phraya River, in an effort to celebrate the river, which was once the region's main transport system in the past before the roads were built in Bangkok.
