GOODREADS SUMMARY

Thomas knows that Wicked can't be trusted, but they say the time for lies is over, that they've collected all they can from the Trials and now must rely on the Gladers, with full memories restored, to help them with their ultimate mission. It's up to the Gladers to complete the blueprint for the cure to the Flare with a final voluntary test.

What Wicked doesn't know is that something's happened that no Trial or Variable could have foreseen. Thomas has remembered far more than they think. And he knows that he can't believe a word of what Wicked says.

The time for lies is over. But the truth is more dangerous than Thomas could ever imagine.

Will anyone survive the Death Cure?

REVIEW

James Dashner knows how to torture his characters. He has the skills to make his characters’ lives utterly MISERABLE. Whatever it is that his characters NEED, Dashner will take it away and leave them to deal with their loss. If there are two characters who need each other, then Dashner may make one suffer in a way that the other cannot help them. Even with physical torture all around, the emotional toll is even greater. It's like he RIPS THEIR HEARTS OUT and puts them in a blender.  Dashner holds the power to ruin it all for his characters. And he USES that power.

Oh the MIND TRICKS! Just because you could trust someone before doesn’t mean you can trust them now. And if you think you have it all figured out, I can GUARANTEE you that you don’t. No one and nothing is what it seems. Or maybe it is? Should we trust WICKED or not? It depends who you ask. Mind tricks!

Want some over-the-top violence? It’s here! I could smell the smoke after the explosions. If there were a soundtrack to this book, it would be filled with the sounds of war. If you like these sorts of things, then you are going to LOVE how Dashner makes his story completely BLOW UP. He is not shy about the violence. At. All. And don’t put it past Dahsner to kill off characters that you are emotionally invested in.  He does things like that, you know.  THIS is why I love James Dashner's writing.

What I walked away with were answers, but not all of them, and the ones I did get were not complete. I am still a little unsure about the what and the why. And I like it that way. The first two books in this series were ramping up for what happens in The Death Cure. Don’t worry at all about this series ending flat. The Death Cure ends with the INTENSITY you expect.
