Las Ramblas are a sequence of streets in the center of Barcelona that starts in the Placa de Catalunya and go all the way to the Port Vell area (near the Christopher Columbus statue). Very popular among tourist and locals, day or night, there's always something to see or do there. The street is about 1.2 km long and it's full of restaurants, cafés and little shops that sell almost everything - from magazines to souvenirs, from "fury" chickens to tropical turtles, from natural fruit juices to fresh flowers - you name it, they probably have it... ;)
Art is also very present - along the sides of the central pedestrian area you'll find many artist performing (human statues, mimes, ventriloquist, painters, etc.) - specially at night and in the weekends.
Finally I must advise you for the amount of people you'll find in this area - it's crazy! :) The photo above was my arrival photo at Barcelona - a regular Sunday night, about seven thirty I think...
