Although the Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia (in English, Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family) saw its construction began in 1882 it is yet far from being finished (estimated to be complete around 2026). Nevertheless, the Cathedral is by far the most famous landmark of Barcelona.Work of the Catalan architect Antonio Gaudà the building is absolutely breathtaking and it has by now two of its three facades complete. The Passion facade - which I'm showing above and bellow - and the Nativity facade - which I'll save for the next post.
In the photo above, besides the two detailed facade's pictures, I included one of the Jesus figure that's siting in the bridge that unite the towers (bottom left) and another two of the magical squares you can find in the entry's sculptures and in the Cathedral's doors (bottom center and right). This squares have 310 combinations that sum 33, the age of Jesus when he died.
Finally a photo from the spires of the Sagrada Familia's cathedral taken from way up in one of it's towers.
