Eduardo VII Park and Marquis of Pombal Plaza, Lisbon, Portugal

Continuing with our tour, let's head to the Eduardo VII Park and enjoy one of the best views of Lisbon. Descending from the top of one of the city's hills the green area of the park mixes beautifully with the buildings nearby and finishes smoothly in the Marquis the Pombal plaza. In the background, completing this Lisbon snapshot perfectly, the Tagus river.

As a curiosity, let me tell you that it holds its name in honour of king Edward VII of England (Eduardo VII in Portuguese).

There, high in it's pedestal and facing the Tagus river is the statue of Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo - the Marquis of Pombal - man who was responsible for rebuilding the city's downtown after the major earthquake of the 1st of November of 1755 who nearly destroyed all of Lisbon.
