In this next two posts lets once again accompany our guest writer Sennen Pinto from Live and Let love Live (Torch Bearers), this time following his adventures on a road trip to San Francisco. A big thanks to Sennen for sharing his stories and also to Megha Kopikar for the beautiful photos provided.
San Francisco is a city of golden beaches, a city host to the one of the finest harbors and home to one of the most beautiful bridges (golden gate bridge) in the world. Any tourist would be breathless at the sight of its scenic beauty, on the other hand he would also be breathless at the cosmopolitan culture, the new generation hippies and the bawdy amusements on many streets.
Living just an hour and a quarter from this magnificent city, I ventured to drive to it, little knowing that I would only capture a few of its tourists spots in just half a day. It was my first lone travel trip not to forget the company of the different FM stations, with my voice accompanying it at times along with the pleasant California breeze giving it another rhythm as I steered towards my destination. I initially stopped at Stanford University and was unfamiliar with the right tourist spots.
To my fortune, by some means I managed to reach the University gym and was guided by an undergraduate student, who lent me a map, and gave me a few pointers of a few must-see spots. I was amazed at the sight of the huge gardens, the elegant structures, sculptures the fine weather and envied the lively students studying there; I was pacified after calmly telling myself, that if I knew how this university looked like 10 years back, I probably may have been one of its bright students.
I stopped by to take a few pictures of the superlative constructions, and the sweet scented flowers, before heading back to my car towards the pacific bay. As my car jaunted towards the golden bridge, I could hear my heart beat 90/a minute, besides the swift breeze and the sound of the fast moving automobile engines on either lane. I gazed at the cliff that created a picturesque panorama, as my rented car journeyed at an altitude. The Golden Gate bridge that met me on travel was a spectacular late evening display, with the pacific bay under it, and the vista spots, assuring splendid tourist sights.
I drove back home after having being stopped unfortunately by a cop for not changing my state license; his ticket an accomplishment before his day’s end, and for me another hassle to travel again; Even though I informed him I was unaware of the need to change my state license, being for only two weeks in the state and pleaded innocent to the cause...
I ventured to travel to San Francisco city again using the Cal train, but only this time for a court hearing. Halfway traveling towards my destination, I calculated that I wouldn't make it over to San Rafael, before noon, due to the long infrequent commutes.
I then changed my destination, deciding to take a trip to the golden gate park (photo above), cheering up as I watched the beautiful colors of the autumn leaves and the huge trees that made home to the chirpy birds, not to forget a pretty Japanese garden, where I settled for a traditional tea before heading home...
