Julep O'Toole

JULEP O’TOOLE
What I Really Want to do is Direct
By:  Trudi Tueit
FIRST SENTENCE
“Julep, dear, where is your heart?”
SUMMARY
From goodreads
The promise of extra credit in English class pushes a nervous Julep to audition for the school play.  But after flubbing her tryout, she ends up at the bottom of the list for stage crew.  How humiliating!  Just as she’s about to quit the play altogether, Julep suddenly finds herself promoted to assistant director.  Finally, Julep has found something she’s really good at:  leadership.  Then, just weeks before the play is set to open, everything comes crashing down.  Can Julep find a way to put her newly discovered talent to work?
REVIEW
The plot sounded good when I read the book jacket, but it wasn’t so great once I actually read it.  Julep was sad for the majority of the story which made it rather depressing to read.
I did like that Julep was finally able to get the other kids to listen to her as director and this made for a nice ending.  I also liked that Julep had two good friends who were loyal to her no matter what was going on.
The chapter titles were cute and added a little humor to the book.
