Wicked Lovely

WICKED LOVELY
By:  Melissa Marr
FIRST SENTENCE
“Four ball, side pocket.”
SUMMARY
from goodreads
Rule #3:  Don’t stare at invisible faeries. Aislinn has always seen faeries.  Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world.  Aislinn fears their cruelty- especially if they learn of her Sight- and wishes she were blind to their presence as other teens.
Rule #2:  Don’t speak to invisible faeries. Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.
Rule#1:  Don’t ever attract their attention.  But it’s too late. Keenan is the Summer King, who has sought his queen for nine centuries.  Without her, summer itself will perish.  His is determined that Aislinn will become Summer Queen at all costs.
Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line.
REVIEW
Wicked Lovely is the first book in a four-book series about faeries.  Aislinn, aka Ash, was born with the gift (or is it a curse) of Sight.  Her Sight allows her to see invisible faeries.  I like it already!
The plot revolves around faery Keenan’s quest to turn Ash into the Summer Queen and Ash’s resistance to his efforts.  Marr presents the story from three different points of view.  While that may sound confusing, it actually helped to keep me from getting confused.  I really felt like I got into the minds of each of the main characters.
I am intrigued by the idea of invisible faeries in the human world.  The first book in this series sucked me right into that fantasy and I am excited to read more.
