REVIEW
A collection of paranormal short stories by popular authors sounds like a good idea. In reality, the stories were hit or miss for me. Some of them were REALLY good, some were just okay, and one just plain did not make any sense at all.
My favorite story was Familiar by Michelle Rowen. Oh my gosh, it was a perfectly written short story. LOVED it! This is an awesome story about a witch who befriends a werecat. Yeah, super unique and fun to read! I enjoyed this story so much that I wish it were a whole book. Even in a short story, I felt a connection to the characters and the plot.
I wonder how these authors of novels feel about writing short stories. It has to be a whole different ball game for them. There isn't a lot of space in a short story for background information, to develop character relationships, or to create a setting. I think it must take a very special author to be able to do this and do it well. If you see a favorite author on this list, you should check out Kiss Me Deadly to see your author’s work in a different way. It was an eye-opener for me.
Thank you to Running Press Book Publishers for sending this book for me to review.
