KAYLA FROM YOU WISH

Sweet Sixteen Kayla is here to visit Reading Vacation today.  I couldn’t wait to ask her if she was on Team Ben or Team Ken!  Oh, and I just had to know what her birthday wish will be next year.  Enjoy!

I love your name.  How did your parents come up with such a pretty name?

Thanks!  My dad let my mom pick it out.  Sadly, there is not a cool story about it.  She chose it out of a book.

I understand that your mother is a party planner.  What is your vision of the perfect sixteenth birthday party?

Well, it’s nothing like my mom’s!  I’d prefer just to hang out with my best friend Nicole.  She’s getting more into shopping and makeup, though, which is sort of annoying.  But we both love Red Robin and there’s one right by the theater, so we could do a movie and bottomless French fries.  What could be better?

BEN!  Definitely Ben!

Your story reminds me of a fairy tale.  What is your favorite fairy tale and why? 

You know, Nicole was always more into the princess movies.  She made me watch The Princess and the Frog, though, and I kind of liked it (don’t tell her I said that!).  I liked that for once the girl wasn’t sitting around needing to be saved.  She was perfectly good at kicking butt herself!

After the craziness of your own sixteenth birthday, what are you going to with for when you turn seventeen?

Nothing!  I’m done making wishes!

Do you have any advice to give other girls who consider themselves loners?

Well, I’ve realized it’s not really about looks and money and sports and all that, it’s really about how you act and treat people.  Sometimes you just have to give people a chance to prove you wrong.
