I Think Wrapping Paper Is My Very Favorite Thing. Is That Weird?

HOW is it Tuesday already???  Christmas is coming folks, ready or not!  I  ventured out this weekend to do some last minute wrapping paper shopping (which, it turns out, was entirely unnecessary as I already had 13 rolls of it from last year; what can I say... I have a problem), and I witnessed a small accident in a parking lot along with the general frenzy of the-week-before-Christmas-holiday-shopping. It was pretty terrible and exacerbated my stress tenfold as I stood for a good 25 minutes in the ribbon aisle of a craft store, wiping sweat from my brow as other shoppers buzzed around me, not seeming to have the same issue as I did with the overly-vast selection of holiday ribbons and bows.  Ohhhh, the repercussions of choosing the WRONG ribbon.  I have no idea what they are, but I bet they're just awful.

Anyway.  Once I finally got my delicious wrapping paper and ribbons safely home with me, I transported all the presents downstairs to the dining room where I cleared off the table I would use as my ultra convenient wrapping station.  Up until this year, I always sat on the ground and wrapped presents, which is pretty hard on the back and just overall not conducive to wrapping.  So this year, I had the bright idea to wrap presents on a table (which, I KNOW, clearly demonstrates my advanced levels of intelligence.  This blog is just FULL of out of the box thinking).

So I took my time and wrapped each gift with love, and I must say: I am very sad this year's present wrapping is over for me. It really gives me a lot of joy.  And as I was snipping and taping and tying and snapping away pictures of the entire process, I thought really hard about how grateful I am to be able to afford to buy presents for people in the first place.  Many, many people are really struggling this year - maybe even some of the readers of this blog - and I just wanted to remind everyone to be so thankful for what you have.  Not just the material things that you have, but the immaterial as well.  The support of your family, the love of your spouse or your friends, the health to wake up and go to work each day.  We take so, so, so many things for granted.

You can't apologize for what you have or for the good fortune that may have befallen you in life, but you certainly MUST recognize that, in an instant, everything can change; and it HAS for many people.  If you have enough, I urge you to search for a way to give a little back this Christmas.  In this economy, it should be a crime not to.  Just a thought for this lovely Tuesday.

Here's a visual of what I've been up to the past few days.  Happy Tuesday everyone!!
