Goodreads Summary

Finding your one true love can be a Grimm experience!

After her boyfriend dumps her for her older sister, sophomore Savannah Delano wishes she could find a true prince to take her to the prom. Enter Chrissy (Chrysanthemum) Everstar: Savannah’s gum-chewing, cell phone–carrying, high heel-wearing Fair Godmother. Showing why she’s only Fair—because she’s not a very good fairy student—Chrissy mistakenly sends Savannah back in time to the Middle Ages, first as Cinderella, then as Snow White. Finally she sends Tristan, a boy in Savannah’s class, back instead to turn him into her prom-worthy prince. When Savannah returns to the Middle Ages to save Tristan, they must team up to defeat a troll, a dragon, and the mysterious and undeniably sexy Black Knight. Laughs abound in this clever fairy tale twist from a master of romantic comedy.

Review

My Fair Godmother is a feel-good book that had me laughing A LOT.  Janette Rallison has a special talent for bringing humor into even the most dire of situations.  If she were a movie writer, she could win an Oscar for Best Comedy script.

Main character Savannah is the queen of sarcasm.  I loved everything about her!  Her older sister, Jane, is the brain of the family and this can get on Savannah’s nerves sometimes.  Oh, and there’s nerdy Tristan – the boy who gets sent back to the Middle Ages by mistake.  He was funny and a good partner for Savannah during their adventure.  There’s even a leprechaun in the mix!  I told you it was a fun book.

Let’s not forgot the Fair Godmother who started all the craziness in the first place.  Chrissy, who has failed out of Fairy Godmother school, can’t get anything right when it comes to granting wishes.  There are hilarious results every time she gets involved.  My favorite scenes were the ones with Snow White – such unexpected mayhem.

My Fair Godmother is a fun read if you are snowed in or feeling a little down.  You will be smiling again in no time at all.  My Unfair Godmother releases on April 12, 2011.  I wonder if Chrissy has gotten any better at granting wishes?

I love that Chrissy is on the cover in all her pink-haired glory.  The way Fairy is crossed out and Fair is written in is cute – just like the book itself.
