REVIEW
Attack of the Vampire Weenies is a collection of 33 magical or paranormal short stories. I am not kidding when I say they are short stories either. They average about six pages each. What a change from reading lengthy novels that are part of a series!
In one story, a young boy hijacks an alien space ship through a computer game. That’s pretty cool if you ask me. Other hi-jinx includes a boy who makes candy out of soap and an elf that likes to haunt another boy’s house. There’s even a girl who gets revenge on her rival using an evil cat. Meow.
My favorite story is Rapt Punzel. In this retelling of the fairy tale, the farmer steals a satellite TV rather than food. I really do enjoy fairy tale retelling and this one is nicely done. I could even picture it as a full length book.
I was surprised that there was so much violence for a middle grade book. This book is not for small children and I wouldn’t recommend reading it just before bed if you are easily creeped out.

COVER COMMENTS
Admit it, you like the unique title as much as I do. And who could resist those creative vampire weenies on the cover? Yeah, this cover is just right.
