GUEST POST
JO TREGGIARI
TOP TEN BOOK PICKS
I am happy to have Jo Treggiara, author of the extraordinary dystopian Ashes, Ashes. Jo has led an extremely interesting life. She was born in London, but grew up in Canada, Italy, and California. Jo also owned her own indie record label and trained to be a boxer. Wow! I got to wondering which books Jo would recommend. Here are her top ten.
Jo’s Top Ten Book Picks
in no particular order
Red Glove- Holly Black (because she is the queen of modern and unexpected fantasy and she always mixes it up in some cool way).
Black Hole Sun- David MacInnis Gill (Great sci-fi, amazing world-building and nauseatingly scary baddies).
Please Ignore Vera Dietz- A.S. King (I just love everything A.S. King writes. A contemporary YA about death and loss that made me cry buckets).
Anna and the French Kiss- Stephanie Perkins (tres tres romantique!)
Mockingjay- Suzanne Collins (Collins never pulls her punches or condescends to her readers, and this book kept me up for many nights after I’d finished reading it and made me think).
Flirt Club- Cathleen Daly (this is actually an MG) (Quirky and laugh-out loud funny. Cisco and the Bean are two of the most adorable characters ever).
Started Early, Took My Dog- Kate Atkinson (adult fiction) (I’m a huge Atkinson fan. This is the 4th in a loose series with the same MC, Jackson Brodie- who incidentally is hot hot hot- and no one can weave together plots and alternately make you laugh and cry like she can).
Unwind- Neal Shusterman (Killer dystopian with scarily plausible premise of teens being aborted retroactively and harvested for their organs).
Graceling- Kristin Cashore (A fierce heroine, thrilling adventure, high fantasy).
Behemoth- Scott Westerfeld ( I love this mix of fantasy, steam punk, and snippets of real World War 1 history, and I adore his female main character, Deryn).
I see some books I recognize and some that are new to me. I may have to look them up on goodreads now. Thank you to Jo for stopping by and The Teen {Book} Scene for arranging this post.
