Bangkok is a city that has a host of museums ranging all the way from royal palaces to boat displays. The diversity and amount of history throughout the city is enough to keep one entertained and leaning for days!

1. Bangkok National Museum
The National Museum of Bangkok is a great place to learn about the traditional Thai culture and to see some of the most prized relics made from gold and ivory in all of Thailand. Don't miss the national museum when visiting Bangkok!

2. Jim Thompson House
Jim Thompson was an American man that had a devout passion for Thai silk. In 1967, he disappeared and was never seen again, leaving behind a silk hobby and a beautiful traditional home in the heart of Bangkok. His home is now on display as a museum and a silk gallery.
3. Bangkok's Forensic Museum
Known by the lengthy name of Songkran Niyomsane Forensic Medicine Museum, is a museum that is sure to impress, or just plain gross someone out. There are displays of preserved human body parts and a complete guide to human anatomy. This museum is interesting, but not for the queasy.

4. Vimanmek Mansion
Built by King Rama V in 1900, the mansion was meant to be a royal palace. The giant house is now considered to be the world's largest teak wood structure and is open as museum to visit. The beautiful wooden structure is a masterful display of woodwork.

5. Suan Pakkad Palace Museum
If you would like to see traditional Thai homes in their most luxurious sense, the Suan Pakkad Palace Museum offers great insights. The series of Thai homes formerly belonged to Prince and Princess Chumbhot of Nagara Svarga who decided to put it on display to preserve the heritage.
6. National Gallery
Bangkok's National Gallery is a treasure chest of contemporary and traditional Thai art. The gallery was set up to preserve Thai culture and to extend traditional heritage through works of art.

7. Bangkok Folk Museum
The Folk Museum in Bangkok consists of 3 different traditional Thai wooden homes in one of Bangkok's earliest communities, Bangrak. The museum is in place to educate and remember the history of that area of Bangkok.
8. Bangkok Seashell Museum
Bangkok indeed is a city that is home to an entire museum dedicated to seashells. There are over 3000 different kinds of seashells on display that range in sizes, shapes, and colors.

9. National Museum of Royal Barges
Preserving the history of canals and water transportation in Bangkok is the National Museum of Royal Barges. The museum displays a collection of vessels that were part of the royal procession of Thailand.
