A morning at Boggy Creek Farm!

There’s a lot of hullabaloo (yep, I said it) going on about eating organic, and I tend to believe most of the hype.  There’s some nasty stuff that goes into our food, and I believe that, over time and if we aren’t careful, all of that nasty stuff can compound and negatively affect our health.

Problem is, buying organic is so. darn. expensive.  The majority of the population simply can’t afford it—us included!  But here and there, I like to incorporate some organic food into our menu, because it makes me feel like I’m doing something good for my little family (i.e. myself and Matthew).

There’s something really, really cool about buying fresh, organic produce straight from the farm where it was grown—talking to the people who lovingly cultivated it, asking for tips on preparation, and just taking part in the process.  It makes the food a little more special… like its story starts before you put in your shopping cart and take it home.  Interestingly, I am more inclined to eat my veggies if purchasing them was a little more of an adventure! Enter Boggy Creek Farm here in Austin.

It’s this amazing little organic oasis on the outskirts of downtown where you can buy fresh seasonal produce, eggs, milk, honey, grass-fed meats, all-natural ice creams, cheese, breads, and other goodies.

It’s just a cool thing to be a part of.

The other day my mom and I went, and of course I snapped a few pictures of the morning!

{ and not that the outfit is that exciting, but the pants are from J.Crew and the shirt is from Anne Taylor Loft }

Sidenote: I actually watched as one of the employees picked up a chicken for a little girl to pet, and before he put the chicken down, he kissed it.  KISSED IT.  THE CHICKEN.

I swear, the happiest and most well-loved chickens on Earth must live at this farm.  I wonder if they taste better?

Check and see if this type of farm exists in your area, or maybe visit your local farmer’s market.  I’m tellin’ ya, breaking the routine of buying all your fruits and veggies from the boring old grocery store might get you excited about eating healthy!

Happy Monday!  It’s gonna be a great week!
