GOODREADS SUMMARY
In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
REVIEW
Clara is part angel and that means that she has a purpose. Not only that, but she sees hints to this purpose in her dreams. At first, the dreams are rather vague, but they grow in depth and intensity over time. These dreams take Clara to Wyoming, where she attends a new school and searches for the meaning of her fiery dreams.
Clara has always known that she is part angel, so it isn’t like she is just now sprouting wings. She is also portrayed as a realistic teen with typical teen fears and concerns. Oh, and add a side of angel drama for good measure. Clara is strong-willed and the definition of Girl Power!
There are two boys vying for Clara’s attention. Tucker is the farm-boy twin of Clara’s friend Wendy. He loves to tease Clara. Then there’s Christian , who is more of a mysterious boy who plays hard-to-get. The tension is high and I found myself leaning more towards one boy than the other as a favorite. Can you guess who?
Cynthia Hand is like a teen in disguise. She has a great grasp of teen speak and her characters are very realistic. Cynthia made me believe that a teen who is part angel can really attend a high school and fit in with the other students. I am a believer!
This romantic angel book left me stunned with a shocking ending and wanting more in book two.

COVER COMMENTS
I love the flow of the title. The white stands in stark contrast to the purple background. What an amazing shade of purple. Did you notice the feather? From an angel wing maybe?
