GOODREADS SUMMARY
Love in my world usually ended up with someone hearing “I smite thee!” as she was cursed to be some lame flower for the rest of her life.
For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals—pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards... and that she'll never be prepared for that duty.
According to her mother, that’s a good thing.
But as every descendent of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return—the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill.
The daimons have found her.
REVIEW
This prequel to Half-Blood may be short, but it is overflowing with action and suspense. It offers a glimpse into a world of risk and danger. I read straight through from the beginning to the end, not pausing for even a moment.
Alex and her mother have been living in Miami after fleeing the Covenant. The thing is, Alex was never told why they left, just that it was necessary. Now, a terrible event forces Alex to return to the Covenant she has long feared. She is torn because the Covenant is where she will learn to fight the awful daimon Alex wants to kill. Wowza!
Alex is fierce! She has a fun and sarcastic side, but she can also get down and fight when it counts. I love all the contradictions in her personality and how she deals with her alarming situation.
Bring on Half-Blood! This prequel sets the stage for an amazing ride.

COVER COMMENTS
A green flower on fire just before it blooms. Makes me wonder what fire will have to do with this series.
