GOODREADS SUMMARY
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure-bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.
Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:
Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.
Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
REVIEW
BAM! Half-Blood begins with incredible energy and action from the very start. The world is in turmoil as pure-bloods with power over the elements rule the half-bloods. The half-bloods are raised to either become Sentinels who fight evil daimons or servants who cater to the pures. The balance should not be swayed and I could just feel the tension building.
As a half-blood, Alex faces a grim future. Not only that, but a supposed murder by daimons sets her off to seek revenge. Alex is courageous, strong, and unstoppable. I just love this girl! There is one thing, however, that can side-track Alex. His name is Aiden, and he is a pure-blood. Love that is forbidden is especially sweet and this relationship is no exception. I want an Aiden of my own someday!
It’s not all romance though, because the wicked daimons are stirring up trouble. The daimons bring conflict and battles and unexpected truths. I was tearing through pages like crazy to find out what happens next. I have a feeling that Jennifer L. Armentrout is the next best thing in YA fantasy. She has built a complex story that is simultaneously surprising and believable.
Expect to be blown away with awesomeness when you pick up Half-Blood. You will not be disappointed.
