GOODREADS SUMMARY

"You know all those stories that claim fairies cry sparkle tears and elves travel by rainbow? They're lies. All lies."—Twelve-year-old Jenny has spent the last two years as an adventurer helping magical kingdoms around the universe. But it's a thankless job, leaving her no time for school or friends. She'd almost rather take a math test than rescue yet another magical creature! When Jenny is sent on yet another mission, she has a tough choice to make: quit and have her normal life back, or fulfill her promise and go into a battle she doesn't think she can win.

REVIEW

Jenny is a 12-year-old adventurer who has learned that the magical dimensions are not all they are cracked up to be, and not all fairytale creatures are cute and cuddly. Saving unicorns and talking frogs all the time has left her zip time for friends and family, and she wants out. Now, Jenny’s already wavering confidence is shattered by a creepy clown-wizard who has a problem with talking animals. QUIRKY!

Girly book lovers of all ages will enjoy Jenny’s adventures and the lessons she learns. Jenny’s constant sarcasm and jokes are entertaining and they had me giggling at all the right times. The entire cast of characters is bizarre and kept me on my toes. Throwing in a clown-wizard as the villain was the final element that made this book total light-hearted fun.

Jenny is a girl who needs to work on her self-confidence. She has trouble realizing just how important she is to the balance of her fairytale worlds. But Jenny is a problem-solver, smart, resourceful, and completely deserving of her title of adventurer. I loved how she worked every situation to help those in need, even when dragged in against her will. If only she could get that self-confidence!

My Very UnFairy Tale Life was a fun break from the dark books I have been reading recently. I had lots of laughs and I loved the creative plot. Overall, I think younger teen and tween girls will love this light and quick read.
