People to Stalk.

Here we are again, Friday. I’m not too happy to see you today, after such a nice week with that guy I’m married to. Monday he starts summer school and we’re back to the grind. Sad face.

But today, I still have him! And we’re still completing projects around the house, so I better go get to it. Enjoy these fabulous SOML sponsors while I work, will you?

* * * * *

Up first is a blog called Living in Yellow by the adorable Erin, a wife, fur-mom, and lover of life.  This blog and its author are bubbling over with personality and positivity, and I think Erin is proof that your life doesn’t have to be crazy-exciting to have a good, entertaining blog (read more about that on her about page!).  I’ve enjoyed reading posts from her like this one about hosting a clothes drive, and of course her recent vacation recaps sure didn’t hurt, either!  Go make an awesome new friend.

Next is the stunningly gorgeous and inhumanely sweet miss Amanda of Marshalls Abroad.  Let me tell you, the moment I stepped virtual foot in this blog, I was smitten. I’ve told Amanda this before, but her little space is just such a breath of fresh air!  Her and her husband reside in Japan (Marines!), and oh the gorgeous photos and oh the love that these two emanate.  In the mood for another fabulous love story? Go ahead, indulge. These two are THE sweethearts of the blog world. You. will. love. them.   Promise.

Third up to bat is Wanderluck by Lindsey, a Texas girl currently living in Valencia, Spain. You guys! You must go meet Lindsey! She is super funny and witty, gorgeous, and also happens to have some handsome New Zealander man-candy. And also happens to be vacationing in Venice right now. No. Fair. Oh, need proof that she’s funny? Read this post and her thoughts on working out. I pretty much agree on all counts. Go say hello!

Happy weekend everyone! :)

Happy FRiday!

I’m going to be busy today. Why, you ask? Well, I’ll be getting ready for my husband’s arrival home after his last final of his first year of law school. There will cleaning, grocery shopping, self-grooming, dog-grooming, and baking of a cake (which has legitimate potential to be a disaster…stay tuned).

In other words, I’m getting ready for a weekend of celebrating and enjoying the company of my husband, whom I have seen very little of lately.  There will likely be consumption of alcoholic beverages. There will likely be over indulgence in aforementioned cake. There will likely be making out (etc). Or maybe we’ll both just pass out by 9:30 (more likely).

So since I must go get on with it, please check out the lovelies below. They will entertain you if things are quiet around here this weekend, I promise.

* * * * *

Love is the Adventure is a blog my my dear friend Elizabeth, and when I say “my dear friend Elizabeth,” I mean that quite literally. Elizabeth and I have known each other since childhood—we were best friends when our families lived in Germany, which also happened to coincide with each of our most ghastly awkward phases.  See proof below. So yes, Elizabeth and I… we go way back.  And reconnecting with her via social media has been an absolute joy.  This girl and her blog are fabulous! Intelligent, wise, funny, and an excellent writer. I dare you to read chapter one of her and her husband’s love story. I promise you will then immediately read the rest, or at least bookmark it for later, and of course love Elizabeth from then on, period.   Me too. :)

JenniandElizabethMe and Elizabeth, circa, oh... 1996, maybe? Yes, those are AWANA uniforms. Yes, those are awesome glasses and headbands.

And Elizabeth now…

Next we have The Life of the Wife, a blog by a certain gorgeous redhead named Jenna.  I have absolutely loved watching Jenna’s blog grow over the past months!  She writes about life with her cute husband and adorable little one, and also throws in plenty about food, fashion, and beauty.  Her girl behind the blog linkup has been a big success, so definitely check that out!  You will love this girl.

Next is the wonderful and sweet Renee from This Won’t Hurt A Bit.  Renee is about to uproot her southern life and move to California for a nursing job, so there are definitely some fun adventures ahead for this blog!  Renee writes about life, fashion, and faith, and I love that you really get a taste of her personality through her posts.  Read more about why she became a nurse here, or get to know all about her here! Enjoy!

And last but not least, I’d like to remind you one more time about Radiant Cosmetics! I am all about companies for a cause, and this one is no exception.  Not only are the cosmetics amazing and really great quality/trendy colors, but 20% of the proceeds from all sales go towards the fight against human trafficking.  Nicole has a wonderful story here, and in case you missed it, I posted about a Radiant event here and modeled Radiant products here.  You’re going to buy cosmetics anyway—might as well buy excellent quality ones that help support a great cause!

Weekend Reading

Happy Friday folks! Any fun plans for the weekend? I’d like to live vicariously through you, since I still don’t have a husband or a life again until next week.  I’m also still having stomach issues, but lab test results should be in today (fingers crossed), and I have actually seen some improvement in the past couple days. I’ll take what I can get, at this point!

Ok, enough about my digestive issues. Go read these people.

House of Glass is a super fun blog by Ash, a girl who just bubbles over with zest for life. I was first introduced to her via her comments on my own blog, and she’s just one of those you can tell is way awesome in real life, you know? Love this girl.  Her and her husband live in SoCal and are super health conscious and stuff. (I write this as I eat an oatmeal raisin cookie for breakfast… which has oatmeal in it?). Also, they had a pretty dang awesome wedding. Go be her friend.

The Next Chapter is a lifestyle blog by Lacey, who just happens to be gorgeous, Canadian, and getting married next week! I always think it’s fun to start reading a blog when such a monumental new beginning is just on the horizon. There are sure to be plenty of fun posts to come!  I enjoyed reading her 10 things I learned while planning my wedding post (I totally agree with all of these!), and while we’re at it, I also enjoyed her review on the Fifty Shades of Grey books. A novel with steamy sex scenes every other page? Why haven’t I read this yet?  Go say hi to Lacey!

You Don’t Even Know… is a blog by the sweetest Miss Callie, a 20 something Wisconsin girl with a great man and extremely adorable animals.  What I love most about Callie is that she’s REAL, and you can tell that about her in her posts. I especially enjoyed her thoughts on cohabitating post and also this one on sleeping arrangements.  Very insightful/funny! :) Go make friends with the lovely Callie and her sweet little family!

TGIF

Thank God it’s Friday, no?  Yesterday was Matthew’s last class of his first year of law school, and this weekend he’ll start “hunkering down,” so to speak, in preparation for finals starting Monday…  Which basically means I don’t have a husband for the next two weeks.  Awesome! (sarcasm.)

I’m thrilled, though, that we made it through this first year that everyone says is the hardest, and we’re still married and we still like each other.  Win for Team MJ! Thanks to everyone who offered up great advice and encouragement in posts like this one back in August!

Anyway, here’s a little weekend reading for you.  These people rock.

Suz over at Suzels Says is a gorgeous Southern girl just starting off her career as a wedding photographer and sharing her life with her handsome boyfriend (who happens to play baseball for the White Sox!  Cool, huh?).  Suz is incredibly sweet and talented, and I’ve so enjoyed getting to know her through her fast-growing and evolving blog.  A fun coffee mug swap going on here until the end of April! Check her out.

Friday is upon us, folks, and I’m looking forward to a weekend of quality time with my husband and my grandparents  in town from Oregon! Tonight I’m making them dinner (chicken milanese with brown rice, a caesar salad, and chocolate dream pie, since you asked), and this morning I’ll be busy getting my house in tip top shape for the event.  Not that it’s ever NOT in tip top shape. It’ll just be more so today. Yeah.

Friday also means another round of awesome sponsors to introduce, so check these ladies out!

First up is a blog called Roots, Wings, and Other Things by the incredibly cute and funny Miss Daryl, an ex-pat currently living in Frankfurt, Germany!  Her photos are gorgeous, her stories are engaging, her style is impeccable, her personality is fun and bubbly… what is there not to love?!  Get to know her and her husband a bit more here, and prepare to swoon.

Good Friday Features

GOOD Friday.  And it has been, so far. Matthew has the day off from classes, so we started out the morning with some puppy cuddles, fresh fruit, and delicious everything bagels from Central Market… and we both agree that these particular renditions were the closest we’ve ever had to our beloved New York bagels.  Almost felt like we were back there in our favorite little cafe, watching the world bustle by.

Total mouth party.

Anyway, check out these fine ladies this morning, and please—have a wonderful Easter weekend…

An outfit and some words

Outfit Apr 4 084-2_edited-1Outfit Apr 4 080-2Outfit Apr 4 044-2Outfit Apr 4 107-2-2_edited-1Outfit Apr 4 102-2-2
Shirt: Forever21 (recent, but not online), Pants: J.Crew, Boots: Franco Sarto (similar here), Bag: Theit, Necklace: Sora Designs: Bracelet: Madewell. Earrings: c/o Acute Designs

I’m not feeling particularly loquacious today.

Really, I just wanted to say loquacious.  It’s a good word.

But no, seriously, I don’t have much to say on this fine Thursday.  If you must know, I desperately need to go grocery shopping (all that’s left in the house is bread, cheese, crackers, and frozen veggies) and I’m also determined to finish that damn gallery wall we started in our bedroom.  Finishing projects is not my strong suit.

Also, my mom and I go pick up Edd’s ashes at 1:00 PM today. I can’t even wrap my mind around that, and the fact that I just said what I did so flippantly.  It seems wrong. But it’s the truth…

And you thought this was going to be a light-hearted outfit post?

Life feels sad right now.  Showers and long car rides are the worst.  My counselor got an earful yesterday.  He said I should write about this more.  And maybe I will.  But for now, pictures of how I dress myself will have to do.

* * * * *

Side note: can we talk about those cute Chevron earrings in the pictures above?  They’re from the amazing (and incredibly kind and patient) Gina of Acute Designs.  She has both a fabulous blog AND shop! Everything is so affordable and pretty over there.  Here’s a few more of my favorites…

Friday Features

So, do you guys remember yesterday how I said I was sitting here inside by the window, enjoying the breeze without the detrimental effects of being outdoors (insects, most notably). Well, it was kind of a big mistake.  What I hadn’t taken into account were the walls of pollen blowing out of the trees and straight in through that window, and throughout the day I was getting sicker and sicker, but still happily tapping away at my computer, not putting two and two together.  By the end of the day yesterday, I was sneezing approximately 5.4 times per minute, and there was a thin layer of yellow dust all over the table and probably myself.  For all the raving I do about spring here, I tend to forget about my allergies!  Austinites, are you feeling it right now too?!  Oy.

Regardless, I’m feeling a tad bit better now after an antihistamine and closing up the windows (sad), but I just thought that was sort of funny.  I painted a rather glorious pictures yesterday, but that pretty much went straight to snotty hell within a few hours of my post.

And since I have nothing better than pollen and snot to talk about today, go ahead and check out the fab SOML sponsors below!  Happy Friday!

Shades of Gray is lifestyle blog by the beautiful Amira, a wife, fur-mom, master’s student, and librarian in training! Amira posts plenty of pretty pictures, funny stories, and yummy recipes, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that she and her husband are easy on the eyes!  (check out the engagement pictures she just posted and their cute love story!)  Also, apparently we have the same taste in camera bags, because I ordered the exact one she just posted about, and now I’m insanely excited to receive mine! :)

New Friends Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  Hope you’re gearing up for an awesome/relaxing/super fun weekend!  Today I’m happy to introduce three blogs that couldn’t be more different, but are all uniquely wonderful!  This is one of the major things I love about blogging—the sheer diversity of bloggers out there, and the look inside another’s life that you’d never get otherwise.  Voyeurism at its finest, folks, voyeurism at its finest. Enjoy!

* * * * *

La Mia Vita is a lifestyle and travel blog currently following Nicole’s journey in Barcelona, Spain!  She’s an Orange County California girl at heart (and shares great San Francisco guides here!), but we get to follow along and peek in on fab photos and recaps from her time abroad.  Oh, and check out her recipes page too! YUM!

The Mermaid Chronicles does just what it claims—chronicles this gorgeous girl’s life as a surfer and writer, two characteristics she feels define her most.  Devon lives in San Diego (another California girl!) with her husband, and these two literally look like a pair out of some hot California surfer movie or something. See? :P  I was also fascinated by Devon’s recent post on why she chooses a vegetarian lifestyle.  Very eye opening.  Go make friends!

Friday Features

Happy Friday folks!  Guess what today is? Besides Friday, of course.  Today, my friends, is the official start to Matthew’s spring break!  Meaning I have a husband for more than a whole week!  Last night we celebrated with some tasty mixed drinks, though I’m still confused as to why this constitutes celebrating. What it mainly creates is an environment in which I act ridiculous and Matthew laughs at me pityingly before sending me off to an early bedtime.  We party hard over here.

But instead of reading my ramblings, how about you check out a few of these gorgeous girls I’m introducing today?  They are fabulous.  You will love them.

* * * * *

My dear friend Kristie is the author behind Kristie Was Here, and I say author because this girl can write your face off. (that’s a good thing, if you were confused.)  Her posts read like poetry—gritty, honest, deep—a peek right into her soul.  I’ve always admired Kristie and her penchant for telling a story and making you feel what she feels.  Go make an awesome new friend.

Pretty miss Erin blogs over at eHan Designs, and she is still quite new here in Blog World so be sure and welcome her!  Erin promises to be a lovely addition to the design and style community, and has already served up some really fun DIY tutorials!  Be sure and check out her sweet space, and wish her luck on her job interview here in AUSTIN! :)

Tammy is the sweet blogger behind Lemons, Avocados, and the Bay, a wonderful San Diego based blog that includes lots of fabulous pictures, home reno projects, and the occasional style post.  Tammy’s fun outings with friends and her sweet guy always make me itch to spend more time in California and at the beach!  Stop in and tell Tammy hello.

Friday Features

Friday is here, Friday is here!  I have a feeling it’s going to be a GOOD weekend.  I’ve mapped out some Pinterest recipes to try, bought all the ingredients for cupcakes, downloaded the new episode of The Walking Dead (apparently Matthew and I bond best over brutality and gore), and I just discovered two free movie passes in my wallet that I’d forgotten all about. Gotta love it when that happens.  But since I have some chores to complete before that awesome aforementioned weekend can begin, I’m going to send you over to a few of my sweet sponsors.  Go say hello!

* * * * *

First up we have my girl Fran and her lovely blog Being Fran(k).  I knew she and I were kindred spirits after her very first email complete with bullet-pointed info and her profession of devotion to my #1 love, Harry Potter.  The deal was sealed after her second email, which happened to have the subject line “Just then Neville caused a slight diversion by turning into a large canary.” Girlfriend knows how to catch my eye (and my heart), that’s for sure. But anyway, besides being witty and hilarious, Fran is also a flight attendant, which means WE get to benefit from all the awesome stories of her travels.  To borrow words from her about page, “this blog is a cocktail of travel tips, disasters, city guides, and world-romping. COME FLY WITH ME!”

Next meet Meagan and Garrett, + One!  This has got to be one of the most adorable little families I’ve ever seen, and I’ve loved getting a peek into their lives via Meagan’s sweet blog.  Meagan and Garrett have a cute little guy named Rowan, who makes a few star appearances here and there, but besides blogging about her life and family, Meagan also includes some recipes, home reno projects, and plenty of really sweet pictures!

And last but not least is Besos, by Bri, a blog about Bri’s journey as a single girl working at NASCAR in Florida (though she hails from Texas, holla!).  Bri is the cute and funny girl next door, and she invites you to follow along as she blogs all about her career, love life, friendships, family, and travel!  (I was especially amused by her post about boyfriends past!)

Friday Features

Good morning folks.  It’s a foggy, dreary day here in Austin, and I have a cold.  How’s that for a bubbly opener? So since my brain is also in a bit of a fog this morning, allow me to introduce a few lovely ladies to you, each of which will do a fine job of entertaining you while I take a sick day.  Check them out!

* * * * *

Ladies and gents (if there are any gents), I need you to meet “Twiggy” (aka Amy).  Maybe you’ve seen some of Twiggy’s comments around the blogosphere—they always have her mark of sarcasm and hilarity all over them, but besides being funny, Amy is also incredibly sweet, an amazing photographer, and an avid hiker (hence her blog name, The Dirt Life).  This, my friends, is a blog you’ll want to read, and a girl you’ll want to know.

Next is the adorable Britney from The Musings of a Twenty-Something Wife.  Britney blogs about life as a newlywed and everything in between—she’s the sweet girl next door, who you get the feeling would be a wonderful friend in real life. Also, how cute is that outfit she’s wearing in the picture below?!  Love.

Friday Features (don’t miss this one!)

Happy Friday everyone!  We made it to the weekend! I have a to do list a mile long today (working on that gallery wall took up most of my time yesterday—I think I’ve kind of grown to hate it) so I’m going to turn this post right over to my sponsor features.  Today I’m introducing some exceptional bloggers, so definitely check these ladies out! You’ll be glad you did.

* * * * *

Miss Megan is the author behind Freckled Italian, a blog about her life as a master’s student in Virginia!  She’s a girl after my own heart, with a degree in English and Creative Writing and a soon to be master’s in Children’s Literature.  She includes lots of fun stories, pictures, and recipes in her posts, but what I love most is that we really get a glimpse into her life and her mind.  Definitely check her out!

Next is my girl Alivia of Brunch in April. I have absolutely loved to watch this blog blossom as of late.  Alivia’s photos really tell a story, as does she.  This post in particular is one of my favorites ever, because it’s honest, and it’s real life.  I’m pretty sure Alivia and I would be BFFs if we were closer.  And that’s one of my favorite things about blogging—finding those long-lost BFFs.  Go meet her!

And last but most certainly not least is Kendra of The Single Momoirs. The moment I stepped virtual foot into this blog I fell head over heels in love.  The aesthetic is fabulous for one thing, and Kendi recently opened Poxxie, her own (really rad) blog design business.  If you’re in the market, check it out fo sho.  Besides being a great designer, Kendi is also a single mama to an adorable little boy and writes about her life in a slightly sarcastic tone (my favorite).  Go make friends, y’all!
