Afraid of ruining her chance to escape her mother's scheming through an advantageous marriage, Violet must keep her ability secret. The only person who can help her is Colin, a friend she's known since childhood, and whom she has grown to love. He understands the true Violet, but helping her on this path means they might never be together. Can Violet find a way to help this ghost without ruining her own chance at a future free of lies?

REVIEW

Violet’s mother is a scam artist. She runs a scheme where she pretends to communicate with ghosts and she forces Violet to take part. With elaborate tricks, Violet and her mother make a living off their innocent victims. They even use shredded chicken feathers to simulate indoor snow. The hi-jinx may be funny to read about, but Violet wants no part in this deception.

Things get complicated one day when Violet really does see a ghost. And then more ghosts come to visit. At first, she ignores her newly found ability, but she eventually embraces it. After seeing her mother’s antics, it is understandable that Violet would be a little slow to accept her power, but when she does LOOK OUT!

One of the ghosts haunting Violet has a mystery to solve. With clues popping up all over the place, I was still surprised by who-done-it. Alyxandra Harvey has a way with mysteries like no other!

Set in Victorian Europe, Haunting Violet has a romantic feel. This was a time when young ladies would marry into families for their social standing and riches. Between aristocratic Xavier and childhood friend Colin, Violet weighs her options. There is no insta-love and things move oh-so-slowly. That’s how I picture perfect romance in my mind, so I loved this about Violet.

I really enjoyed this ghostly mystery with a touch of Victorian romance. I hope you will too.

COVER COMMENTS

Violet colored water! I don’t know if that’s Violet or one of the ghosts, but I love her mysterious eyes.
