GOODREADS SUMMARY

Dragons exist. They’re ferocious. And they’re smart: Before they were killed off by slayer-knights, they rendered a select group of eggs dormant, so their offspring would survive. Only a handful of people know about this, let alone believe it – these “Slayers” are descended from the original knights, and are now a diverse group of teens that includes Tori, a smart but spoiled senator’s daughter who didn’t sign up to save the world.

The dragon eggs have fallen into the wrong hands. The Slayers must work together to stop the eggs from hatching. They will fight; they will fall in love. But will they survive?

REVIEW

Dragons! Oh, but not just any dragons. Hatching from dormant eggs are are ultra-indestructible dragons that can only be taken down by Slayers. It’s a good thing that Tori and her friends are descendants of those very Slayers. This premise is unique and it got my attention quickly.

There’s this thing called being connected that happens with some of the Slayers. Being connected means that two Slayers share the same powers and they can read each other’s thoughts and emotions. In this case, Tori is connected with Dirk. They both share the power of hearing what the dragons can hear. This comes in handy when Tori and Dirk try to spy on the dragons. Dirk, well, he’s not my favorite character because he’s not always so nice. I am fonder of Jesse, a super nice Slayer who also has a romantic interest in Tori. While I get a little tired of these love-interest triangles, this one is different because of the being connected thing.

There is a ton of action in Slayers. I think my little brother would love this book for the action alone. I got to the point where I wanted to learn how to shoot arrows like the Slayers. If Tori can do it, so can I, right?  The pace is F-A-S-T and there’s really no chance of getting bored as you read. C.J. Hill also sneaks in some funny moments so ease the tension at times. I love these little surprises.

Be prepared for a major cliff-hanging of an ending. Where’s that second book? I NEED to know what happens!

COVER COMMENTS

Holy dragon egg! What a unique cover to go with this unique story. I like that the main color of the cover is green because that makes me think of classic dragons.
